I haven’t had time to get this posted before now cause I’ve been busy with skiing and work. Can’t complain about that. Except the work part maybe.
Anyway, Thursday I woke up to go skiing. Checked the website and found they had 16 inches of fresh snow. So, finally, I grabbed the new skis and headed for the hill. They were AWESOME. Worth every penny I spent. (And that’s a lot of pennies) I skied for a couple hours then had to bail to go to work. That was the hardest thing ever. I really wanted to stay and keep skiing. I was having way too much fun. These skis and deep snow are where it’s at.
Friday I went back up and spent the day cruising all the best parts of the mountain. Well, at least the best parts when Jess isn’t there. She would never hit up the areas I do. I loved it though and I pretty much shut the lifts down. When I left, the final life had another 20 minutes of operating but I was beat.
Saturday Jess and I went up and went skiing. It was pretty windy which takes some of the enjoyment out of it but we had a good time. I took up a different pair of skis that are more for goofing around and I had a lot of fun on them while cruising the mountain with Jess. I enjoy getting to ski with her, even if it’s not the most challenging skiing I do, it’s fun to just enjoy the snow with her. Since I’d already spent two days charging the mountain, being able to slow down and relax was great.
Since then I’ve been working (and watching the Super Bowl). Yesterday we narrowly avoided another round of lay-offs in the newsroom. The reporter they were going to lay-off agreed to take a pay cut and work 30 hours a week instead of 40. That hurts the newsroom a lot. This is the same reporter that the Missoulian laid off a few months ago. So he’s gotta be feeling pretty bad about his future with the company. Makes me wonder how much longer the newspaper is going to be going. I just keep hoping for the best but it’s pretty stressful to keep working knowing every day could be the last one.
